Everytime I travel to a new place (or a tried and true destination for that matter) I look up good eats. Some might consider it a silly time investment but for me good food and drink only adds to the overall feeling of a city. NYC is one of those places where it seems everything is within arm’s reach. Some of it good, some of it mediocre and some of it outstanding. Here is just a sample of (outstanding) places I frequent while in the Big Apple. For more photos check out my flickr page:

The best espresso courtesy of Gimme Coffee, Mott St! Very friendly baristas too doesn’t hurt…

You need not trek down to East Village for some of the best doughnuts (Vanilla Bean, Creme Brulee, Coconut glaze, coconut cream, Pistachio, Valrohna chocolate…) Doughnut Plant has a second location at the Chelsea Hotel!

Peanut butter glaze, raspberry filled.. how I miss thee.

I never miss an opportunity to eat at Luzzo’s in East Village for Naples style pizza. Their pastas are excellent as well!

After pizza, head over to LULA’S SWEET APOTHECARY on East 6th St! And guess what? It’s VEGAN!

Did I mention this is vegan!?!?!

In the mood for chorizo? Tortilla? Kas? Don’t pass up Despana at Broome St.

It may be out of the way, but RBC is definitely worth it (and it’s on Worth St). Great selection of coffee, knowledgeable staff and excellent customer service… what more do you need? Psst… they also have a Slayer!

Wanna add a little spice to your life? How ’bout some authentic South Indian food at Saravana Bhavan on Lexington Ave?

Another great option for pizza is Keste Pizzeria on Bleecker. Try the Salsiccia e friarielli (Rapini, italian sausage, smoked mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil)/flickr.com
