When I look back at these photos I ask myself “How did I not gain 30 lbs on this trip?”

I was kicking myself in the butt for waiting till the last day to stop at Made Creative Bakery. I walked past this sweet shop every morning and it was even on my ‘go-to’ list!

I knew I could get cupcakes from numerous shops back home. But this place was mentioned in a number of food blogs… it was definitely worth the visit!

Nope, that’s not a savory sandwich up there!

Don’t get the idea that you can walk past Forno Marco Roscioli and not buy something! It’s impossible!

They have the most incredible window display!

Those meringues look big, right? They are! They were bigger than the size of my head!

Casa & Bottega, via dei Coronari, Rome.
The one thing I had to have each day? A bombolone filled with nutella. I miss it so much! (My waistline doesn’t miss it though!)

How best to start the week?

Above: Hyperion Espresso, Fredericksburg, VA
Well, with a great cup of coffee from some of my favorite places…

RBC NYC… they HAD a Slayer!
Settle in at Coutume in Paris with their irresistible affogato, sigh.
Watch the world go by with a pour over at SOK Summer Espresso Lab (a pop-up coffee bar… now closed) in Amsterdam.

For the best coffee in Charleston, SC, I (used to) go to Hope&Union (I am sensing at trend here?).

In Rome, do as the Romans do – Sant Eustachio!

Ok, so it’s not REAL people… just work with me here!
They have just as much personality as people do!

The fountain at the Pantheon

Villa Borghese

Near Spanish Steps
Shooting with my telephoto lens allowed me to see these statues in a different light… I was amazed at how expressive they are!

The Spanish Steps and Piazza di Spagna in Rome is a wonderful stopping place for people watching…
…typically crowded with hundreds of tourists from all over the world.
But amongst the sea of people only one person truly stood out that day…

She has the most beautiful icy-blue eyes.

And she has incredible style (check out those gloves!)… should have asked her for her portrait!
